At Squadnet we sometimes hear this question from parents when they are choosing if they should put their child into Martial Arts rather than a team sport.
Both anecdotally from our experience and from our conversations with many parents over the years, plus from the research into this question, the exact opposite is true.
In fact, martial arts training can have many positive benefits for children, including increased self-discipline, self-confidence, physical fitness, and improved mental focus that helps both at home and at school.
Martial arts also tends to focus on the importance of values such as respect, self-control, and perseverance, as well as strategies for resolving conflicts without violence.
Of course, like any physical activity or sport kids go into, there is always a risk of injury when practising martial arts, however this is rare in most martial Arts schools as they take the safety of kids as the highest priority.
As a general rule, Martial Arts for kids provides so many amazing positives for children and in our opinion is one of the best choices a parent can make.
